Winter has (unofficially) arrived in Philadelphia, with several attractions welcoming the new season with cool-weather activities and the final days of harvest festivals.

Winter at Dilworth Park begins Friday with a weekend full of fire and ice performances alongside the return of main attractions like the Rothman Orthopaedics Ice Rink and Cabin.

Peddler’s Village says hello to winter this weekend, too, with the Kickoff to the Holidays. Visitors can sing carols, make ornaments and meet Mrs. Claus ahead of next week’s big lighting event.

On the fall side of things, Terror Behind the Walls wraps up a season of frights (Friday and Saturday), and Linvilla Orchards offers a last chance to enjoy hayrides, pumpkins and caramel apples at Pumpkinland.

The Philadelphia Museum of Art hosts its annual Contemporary Craft Show (all weekend) at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, showcasing works from more than 200 artists from the U.S. and Israel. Also on the arts front, the Pennsylvania Ballet debuts three impressive new works in a series of weekend performances.

And Sly Fox Brewing Company brings back its outdoor Cyclocross event on Sunday, pairing beer with an adventurous bike race.

Book the perks-packed Visit Philly Overnight Hotel Package for an easy start to the long weekend. Valued at up to $214, the package is a great base itinerary featuring free hotel parking, free tickets to select museums and a $25 restaurant card for Garces Group Philadelphia restaurants, plus passes for the PHLASH Downtown Loop for traveling around the city.
